Comanche: Michael Mann's Western Project to Star Scott Cooper

Michael Mann, renowned director known for his work on Heat and Heat 2, recently discussed his upcoming Western project during a masterclass at the Lumière Festival in Lyon. Mann revealed that Scott Cooper, the director of the upcoming music biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, will be helming one of his scripts.
According to Mann, he has two screenplays, one of which he will not direct but will produce. The film, titled Comanche, is inspired by the story of Cynthia Ann Parker, a white woman who was kidnapped by Comanches as a child and later lived as a Comanche woman. Mann and Eric Roth wrote the screenplay in the early 2000s, but it never materialized.
Cooper's film Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, which opens next week, is generating early buzz. Jeremy Allen White portrays Bruce Springsteen, with the real Springsteen often present on set. White shared, 'Bruce was there, like he was a lot of days, and he came out, and he kind of introduced me to the audience, so he gave them to me all warmed up. They made me feel like a star for three-and-a-half minutes. And then the first A.D. would say 'Cut,’ and they would go silent. And I remembered, I am not Bruce Springsteen, I am just an actor.'
Meanwhile, Mann is eyeing to begin shooting Heat 2 next year. Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly being considered to star as Chris Shiherlis, initially played by Val Kilmer in the 1995 film. Heat 2 takes place one day after the original movie, with a wounded Chris Shiherlis trying to escape Los Angeles. The story explores events before and after the heist.
Mann expressed his enthusiasm for the Heat franchise, stating that it has sustained cultural prominence and is a recognized brand. He believes audiences are ready for a new story in the Heat universe, and he aims to create a large, ambitious film.
